DRF is Transforming Disability Support in Zambia and Africa at large . We are closing the gap between disability policy and practice. We work directly with families of children with developmental disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, and other conditions to ensure they receive the mobility support, knowledge, nutrition, and practical tools they need to thrive.
We invite foundations, philanthropic institutions, and impact-driven organizations to partner with us in building a sustainable, community-centered model of disability support.
Across Zambia and much of Africa, children with developmental disabilities and their families face systemic barriers:
Services such as therapy, mobility aids, caregiver training, or early identification are often unavailable, unaffordable, or inconsistent.
Policies exist, but implementation is weak. Families lack coordinated, reliable pathways to access care, education, and social protection.
Primary caregivers are often untrained, overwhelmed, and unsupported—leading to preventable complications, exclusion, and reduced quality of life.
Cultural stigma and misinformation isolate children and families, limiting community involvement and opportunities.
Children with developmental disabilities face higher nutritional needs, yet their families often face economic hardship and limited access to proper diets.
DRF was created to bridge these gaps—practically, sustainably, and with dignity.
DRF delivers a comprehensive, scalable model built around four core pillars:
Our model focuses not just on the child, but on strengthening the family unit, building community capacity, and improving policy implementation on the ground.
✓ Locally Led, Evidence-Informed
Led by experts in public administration, disability advocacy, and community systems, DRF creates solutions tailored for African realities.
✓ Policy-to-Practice Bridge
We translate disability policies into actionable support for families—filling a gap few organizations address.
✓ Holistic Caregiving Approach
We combine mobility, nutrition, psychosocial support, and education into one integrated system.
✓ Community-Centered and Family Empowered
We build parents’ skills and leadership, ensuring sustainable change beyond individual interventions.
✓ Data-Driven
We conduct needs assessments, monitoring, and community mapping to guide our programs and inform national policy.
✓ Deep Networks Across Sectors
We collaborate with government ministries, NGOs, universities, faith groups, and corporate partners.
