FOR FOUNDATIONS: PARTNER WITH US

DRF is Transforming Disability Support in Zambia and Africa at large . We are closing the gap between disability policy and practice. We work directly with families of children with developmental disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, and other conditions to ensure they receive the mobility support, knowledge, nutrition, and practical tools they need to thrive.

We invite foundations, philanthropic institutions, and impact-driven organizations to partner with us in building a sustainable, community-centered model of disability support.

The Problem We Are Solving:

Across Zambia and much of Africa, children with developmental disabilities and their families face systemic barriers:

1. Limited Access to Services

Services such as therapy, mobility aids, caregiver training, or early identification are often unavailable, unaffordable, or inconsistent.

2. Fragmented Support Systems

Policies exist, but implementation is weak. Families lack coordinated, reliable pathways to access care, education, and social protection.

3. Caregiver Burnout and Lack of Skills

Primary caregivers are often untrained, overwhelmed, and unsupported—leading to preventable complications, exclusion, and reduced quality of life.

4. Stigma and Low Public Awareness

Cultural stigma and misinformation isolate children and families, limiting community involvement and opportunities.

5. Poverty and Food Insecurity

Children with developmental disabilities face higher nutritional needs, yet their families often face economic hardship and limited access to proper diets.

DRF was created to bridge these gaps—practically, sustainably, and with dignity.

Our Program Model: Practical, Sustainable, Family-Centered

DRF delivers a comprehensive, scalable model built around four core pillars:

1. Mobility & Accessibility

  • Provision of wheelchairs, walkers, standing frames, and adaptive equipment

  • Home modifications and accessibility assessments

  • Community-level awareness on inclusive environments

2. Caregiver Training & Education

  • Skills-based workshops on safe mobility, feeding, therapy routines

  • Training on disability rights and policy navigation

  • Support groups and psychosocial empowerment sessions

3. Resource & Information Center

  • Zambia’s first community-based disability resource hub (in development)

  • A one-stop center for information, professional referrals, and educational materials

  • Assistive device library and parent-to-parent support network

4. Nutrition & Family Support

  • Nutrition packs for families facing food insecurity

  • Training on feeding techniques for children with disabilities

  • Partnerships with local farmers and nutrition programs

Our model focuses not just on the child, but on strengthening the family unit, building community capacity, and improving policy implementation on the ground.
